Kayla and Cody Jones were at a loss on how to fulfill their one great wish: to start a family. It turns out that when Kayla was just 17 years old, she had to undergo partial hysterectomy which did affect her ability to carry a child. But the pair didn’t lose hope because they knew that they had other options, like a surrogate mother.
“My ovaries did not have to be removed so I am still able to have a child biologically mine, but I am unable to carry the child myself. That’s why my husband and I had to use a surrogate.”
The couple tried to look for potential candidates but their search wasn’t that successful. This was when they remembered how Cody’s mother Patty always joked about being their surrogate mother. After several failures with other people, the pair decided to go to Patty for help.
Fortunately, after a lot of tests and research, doctors allowed Kayla’s mother-in-law to carry their child. The road to starting a family with Grandma Patty wasn’t easy. The first time they tried to conceive ended in heartbreak but they wouldn’t give up the idea of having a family so they decided to do it one more time.
In May 2017, Cody, Kayla, and Patty received the best news. Kross Allen Jones was born seven months later and life couldn’t be any more fulfilling for their family.
“I am so amazed at this sweet miracle. Having him via surrogacy was not always easy, and definitely not easy for Patty, but having him here makes all the hard days worth it.”
There is no assurance that they would follow Kross with another baby because the procedures are quite expensive. They would just lift it up to God and hope for the best. As for the hero of the story, Patty has fully recovered and is very thankful to have been part of the journey.
“Patty is doing great! She starts back to work next week. She says she feels blessed to have been able to do the journey. She has been so great. I would like to add that our whole family has been wonderful. They financially and emotionally supported us. I love seeing Kross with all his grandparents.”
